Ruby A. Cheek

She was born Feb. 8, 1923 in Waldron, AR to Samuel O. and Dollie A. (Baggs) Plum. She married Malcolm B. Cheek in Arkansas on Oct. 4, 1944. He preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1988. Also preceding her in death were her parents; 2 brothers and 7 sisters.

Surviving are 3 children, Brenda (James) Mullins of Tremont, Randy (Steve Stelmack) Cheek of Falls Church, VA, Melvin (Lee Anne) Cheek of Washington; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Joe (Maddie) Plum of Waldron, AR, Willis (Donna) Plum of Peoria; sister, Helen Mayes of CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruby last worked in the cafeteria at the 1st National Bank in Peoria before retiring in 1978. She was a member of the Izaak Walton League. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, quilting, sewing, crocheting, and camping.

She was a member of Roland Manor Baptist Church in Washington, IL where Funeral Services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 with Rev. Steve Hardin officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
