Nellie Ann Douglas

Nellie Ann Douglas, 79, of Germantown Hills passed away on August 26, 2021, at her home with her family at her side. She was born on February 1, 1942 in Martinsville, IN. She married Gary Allen Douglas on November 16, 1973. She had three children from an earlier marriage and he brought three from an earlier marriage to form a family with six children.

Surviving are her husband, Gary A. Douglas of Germantown Hills; children, Nayan (Raymond) Gluck of Trenton, Michelle Faubel of East Peoria; three stepdaughters, Cary (Kevin) Hall of Rio, Christy (Terrance) Gray of Silva, and Janine Douglas of Griffith, IN; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; one brother, Gary (Regina) Roe of Creve Coeur; and one sister, Milly Lou (Bill) of Davenport, IA.

She was preceded in death by her son, James Webster Jr.; three brothers; and two sisters.

Nellie had been a successful business owner and worked at DCFS as a social worker and at Lutheran Social Services as manager of homemakers for the elderly.

Nellie was a loving wife and mother to all her children and grandchildren. She liked garage sales and thrift stores and always found great bargains.

She was always helping others and a very giving person. I will miss her greatly. We will all miss her greatly.

Nellie’s funeral service will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Her visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am also on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.

Memorials may be made to the South Side Mission in Peoria.
