Melvola M. Callahan, 92, of East Peoria, formerly of Lutz, FL, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her daughter’s residence in East Peoria on April 11, 2018. She was born on January 14, 1926 in Heyworth, IL to Dave and Louannie (Bays) Dyer. She married James H. Callahan on July 14, 1943. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1993. She was also preceded by two grandsons and one son in law, Ron Lietz.
She is survived by seven children Linda (Robert) Reason of East Peoria, Mary Lietz of Townsend, WI, Patricia (Andy) Baysinger and James (Nancy) Callahan both of Kewanee, Michael (Mary) Callahan of Chillicothe, Pamela (Steve) Gibbs of Henry, IL, and Andrew (Cecile) Callahan of Hastings, NE, eighteen Grandchildren, twenty six Great Grandchildren, twenty four Great Great Grandchildren and one brother Dewey Gene Dyer.
Melvola owned and operated antique stores in both Florida and Illinois.
Cremation will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM at the Spring Bay Fire Department.
