Mavis was born December 3, 1933 in Vicic Addition to Stanley (Pop) and Henrietta (Albers) Blackburn. She married James Brown on November 19, 1949 in East Peoria. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2008. Also preceding her in death were her parents, nine brothers and sisters.
Surviving are three daughters: twins Roxanna Brown of East Peoria and Roseanna (Melvin) McConkey of Pekin, and Shelly (Harlan) Laesch of East Peoria, one son, James Brown of Morton, eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She enjoyed traveling, reading and her pets, and above all her Lord, God.
A private family service will be held with burial at Roberts Cemetery in Morton. Remmert Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
