Mary was born on January 4, 1934, in Morton, IL, to Ernest and Lorraine (Decker) Moschel. She married Herman Joe Wells on July 9, 1950, in Peoria, IL, and they shared many beautiful years together until his passing on November 11, 2011.
Mary was a devoted member of Richland Baptist Church, where she found joy in volunteering on the Social and Benevolent Committees and served as an assistant Sunday School Secretary. Her faith was an integral part of her life.
Mary was a loving mother to her four sons, Dennis (Debra) Wells and Curtis (Vikki) Wells, both of East Peoria, Timothy (Barbara) Wells of Deer Creek, and Mark (Sue) Wells of Peoria. She was also a proud grandmother to twelve grandchildren: Jason (Jessica) Wells, Jim Wells, Holly (Doug) Litwiller, Nicole (Will) Bradford, Jennifer (Miles) Winder, Tiffany (Scotty) Lawless, Michelle (Logan) Stoops, Lindsey (Jeff) Naffziger, Tyler Templeton, Lucas Templeton, Ridic Wells, and Griffin Wells. Additionally, she leaves behind 17 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson. She is survived by her sister-in-law Barb (the late, Bill) Moschel of Morton, IL and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Robert, William and infant Don; and four sisters, Betty Tucker, Virginia Fiedler, Donna Schulzki and infant Carol Jean.
Services to celebrate Mary's life will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, September 26, 2024, at the Journey Church, 2022 Springfield Rd in East Peoria, IL. The Rev. Gary England will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton, IL.
Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday, September 25, at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria with additional visitation one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
