Margaret E. "Marge" Brandt Rubin, 98, of Washington, formerly of West Peoria, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Carle Health - Proctor Hospital in Peoria. She was born on July 27, 1925 in Petersburg, Indiana, a daughter of Evan L. Bryan and Charlotte Agnes (Hager) Bryan. Her parents moved the family to Creve Coeur in 1936. Marge married Edward Brandt on January 19, 1946 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on July 6, 1983 in Peoria. She then married Willard E. Rubin on October 14, 2000. He preceded her in death on February 19, 2007.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert L. Bryan and Evan Bryan, Jr.; two step-daughters, Sharon Phillips and Kaye Dean; and daughter-in-law, Dianne Brandt.
Marge is survived by her son, Steven E. Brandt of East Peoria; her daughter, Diane L. (Kurtis) Kelley of St. George, Maine; six grandchildren, R. Dawn Gries of Washington, Andrea (Scott) Haney of Washington, Chad Kelley of North Carolina, Patrick (Celine) Kelley of Maine, Michael B. Kelley of Maine (currently in Ukraine), Kathryn A. Kelley of Maine; four great-grandchildren, Morgan Gries, Catherine and Hunter Haney, and Lyanna Kelley; two great-great-grandchildren, Rosie and Ryder Milstead; two step-daughters, Jeanie Melvin of East Peoria and Diane (Dale) Porch of Peoria; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and step-grandchildren.
She was a retail sales clerk for several years in Creve Coeur and Peoria.
Marge was an avid bowler and served as secretary for many of the leagues she bowled in. She was a member of the Peoria WBA for over 50 years, served as a Director on the PWBA Board for 12 years, a life member of WIBC and USBC National Association. She was a member of the IWBA, National 600 Club, secretary of Peoria local 600 club for over 25 years. Marge was a secretary for the largest mixed senior leagues consisting of 28 to 30 teams at Town & Country Bowl until it closed in 2011 where she handled all the paperwork by hand as she didn't own a computer. Marge was inducted into the Peoria Women's Hall of Fame in 1994.
She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Peoria.
Marge's funeral service will take place at 11:00 am Friday, January 5, 2024 at the Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Rev. Chip Winter will officiate. Her visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am also on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
