Born April 15, 1951 in Harlan County, Kentucky to Herbert and Lola (Gambrel) Goodin; she married Ralph Grebner on December 12, 1970 and he survives. Also surviving are her children, Lola (Rod) McKinley, Ralph II and Jacob (Jennifer); grandchildren, Gabriel and Logan McKinley and Ariana and Jillian Grebner; great grandson, Dominic Disalvo; sisters, Barbara Gray, Bonnie Stellwag, Kathy Kenney, Deborah Schumacher and Robin Hunt; brothers, Jerry, Walter and Jeffrey Goodin; sister-in-law, Phyllis Goodin; and close friend, Gary Nicholas.
Preceding in death were her sister and brother-in-law, Arlo (Toby) Vickers; brothers, Danny and David Goodin and sister-in-law, Juanita Goodin.
Marcilene had worked as a deli department supervisor at Kroger Washington and Kroger Northpoint stores. She owned Marty’s Tea Room and Bakery in Sunnyland. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Scottsdale Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts Institute with a 4.0 grade point average, finishing her externship as a line chef at “Michaels at the Citadel” also in Scottsdale.
Marcilene also became a student aviator accomplishing her first cross country solo flight in a Cessna 152 aircraft at New Hudson Airport in Michigan where the tail of her t-shirt still hangs today. She also logged dozens of hours as a co-pilot of a Bellanca Viking on trips from Arizona to Illinois, Michigan and Oregon.
Her primary interests have been related to food and health, gardening, writing poetry, children’s stories, but most of all being a remarkable mother and grandmother. She is deeply missed.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Burial will follow at Fondulac Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Tuesday, June 5th at Remmert Funeral Home.
