He was born Aug. 23, 1938 in Peoria to Howard and Emma (Belchner) O’Brien. He married Karen Arnold Nov. 18, 1961 in Creve Coeur. She survives along with one daughter, Renee (Richard) Baron of East Peoria, two sons: Rick (Jean) O’Brien of East Peoria, Rod (Beth) O’Brien of Creve Coeur, five grandchildren: Seth, Matt, Clayton, Chandler, Marissa, and one great-grandson Max. He is also survived by one sister Marlene (Charles) Vaughn of East Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leonard O'Brien.
Larry was a Navy Veteran. Following his time in the military Larry was a Printer first at International Paper Co. in Peoria, later he worked at Fast Printing in Peoria where he retired in 2000. After retirement Larry worked part time at Co Bat Co. in Peoria.
He was a member of Lake Camelot, loved fishing, NASCAR, the Chicago Cubs, and was a dedicated father and grandfather.
Funeral services will be Tuesday April 20, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Rev. John Plunkett will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. till service time at 11:30 at the funeral home.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services on Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
