Born February 14, 1946 in Peoria, IL to Charles and Eva (McCann) Fitchpatrick; she married James Zilch on April 5, 1970 in Peoria. He survives.
Also surviving are her son, William “Bill” Zilch; nephews, Matthew (Rhonda) Knox and Anthony Kamp; niece, Rose (Mark) Elbus; great nieces and nephews, Josh and Ryan Knox, Catherine (Josh) Dortch, Matthew Elbus, Jennifer Blumenshine-Wade, Julianne (Luke) Demmel, Andrew and Abigail Kamp; sister-in-law, Mary (Joseph) Kamp and her precious cat, Nadia.
Preceding in death were her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Dorothy Zilch; sister-in-law, Susan Zilch, sister, Roberta (Leroy) Knox; and nephews, Milton and Mike Knox.
Karen enjoyed needlepoint, sewing, baking and flower gardening. She loved spending time with her family.
She and Jim are past members of the Wharf Harbor Yacht Club in Peoria.
Jim and the family extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Farmington Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful care for Karen during her time there.
Cremation has been accorded by Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. A private inurnment ceremony will be held at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
