She was born on July 27, 1933, to Charles and Genevieve (McCarty) Summers. She married James Lancaster in 1950, and they had five children together, and later married Carl Russell. He preceded her in death.
Joyce is survived by two sons, Jim (Jean) Lancaster of Mapleton and Ken Lancaster; one sister, Elyner (Basil) Braman of East Peoria; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sons, Dick Lancaster, David Lancaster and Tom Lancaster; and 2 siblings, Chuck Summers and Joan Roofe.
She enjoyed traveling and was a faithful servant of God. Joyce was a member of Christian Life Church in Creve Coeur.
Funeral service will be held Friday, December 22, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Remmert Funeral Home, East Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Pastor Ron Talbot will officiate. Burial will follow at Fondulac Cemetery, East Peoria.
