He was born Sep. 7, 1939 in Canton to Joseph and Amilia (Glad) Kumer. He married Bonnie Rose on June 11, 1960 in Canton. She survives along with one son, John M. (Candi) Kumer of East Peoria, four grandchildren: Michael (Kylie) Ervin, Ian Kumer, Annette (Martin Geier) Ervin, and Jared (Tracy) Kumer. Mike is also survived by nine great-grandchildren: Brendon, Martin, Virginia, Brayden, Tyler, Kevin, Palmer, Beau, Rhett, two brothers: Bill “Babe” (Susan) Kumer of St David, IL and Donnie (Pat) Kumer of Canton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Virginia Kumer.
Mike was an East Peoria Police officer for 30 years. He was a member of St Monica’s Catholic Church in East Peoria for over 50 years and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Mass will be Monday, May 23, 2022 at 10 a.m. at St Monica’s Catholic Church in East Peoria. A visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
