Born December 29, 1941 in Peoria to John and Edna (Schaer) Marks along with sisters Sharon (Delicath) and Esther (Legg). They preceded him in death. He married Dianna Anderson on December 19, 1987.
John’s deepest love was for his family. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Dianna Marks of East Peoria; children, Greg (Kelly) Marks of Chillicothe, IL, Rhonda (Bill) Shelley of East Peoria, Brad (Tina) Marks of Morton, IL, Beth (Rod) O’Brien of Creve Coeur, IL, Scott Bennett of Zionsville, IN, Chris (Amy) Anderson of Melbourne, FL, and Heather Anderson (Michael Hart) of East Peoria; grandchildren, Tim, Katie, Jon, Amanda, Matt, Marissa, Michayla, Karis, Adalyn, Emma and Nathan; and great grandchildren, Olivia, James, Hudson, and Joanna.
John was a proud member of Plumbers Local Union 63 of Peoria for 65 years. He owned and operated J. H. Marks Plumbing for 17 years and later retired from JC Dillon Plumbing in 2003. John was a tough teacher. Throughout the years he passed along his detail-oriented work ethic to numerous apprentices.
John was a hardworking man of few words, but those words either brought laughter or wisdom, and he always left an impression with his unforgettable wit. John never turned away from someone in need. And he always made time for a cold one or two. He was forever young at heart. Loyalty was his greatest attribute. He will be missed, but we know that he is with his loving savior Jesus Christ.
John requested no ceremony at this time, but his family and friends will celebrate his life in memories for years to come. Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Memorials are suggested to the Parkinson’s Foundation at parkinsons.org
