He was born March 15, 1931, in Truman, Arkansas to Thomas J. and Velmer (Hamby) Sullins. He married Hazel J. Halfacre on June 18, 1949 in Truman, AR. They moved to Peoria, IL in 1950. She preceded him in death on September 30, 2017. Also preceding him in death were his parents, one son, Jerry D. Sullins, four brothers and four sisters.
Surviving is one granddaughter, Nicole (Shawn) Combs of East Peoria; two great-grandsons, Ian Chenoweth and Nicholas Combs; and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry worked at Caterpillar Inc for over 35 years, last working in the Morton Parts Department, before retiring in 1986. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Peoria, where he served as an Usher. Jerry loved woodworking, golfing, and working outside in his garden. He enjoyed helping and being with others, especially his son and grandchildren.
A private family service will be held and entombment will be at the Swan Lake Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Remmert Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
