He was born to Ferris “Bud” and Lillian (Chaney) Elam in Peoria IL on March 5, 1949. They preceded him in death.
Jack married his best friend and the love of his life Donna Ring on September 20, 1997 in East Peoria IL. She survives.
He was survived by his children; Scott (Christina) Elam, Lindsay Elam, grandchildren; Dylan, Riley Elam, brother; John (Lori) Elam, 9 nieces and nephews; Jerimah Elam, Veronica (Tony) McCracken, Heide Thompson, Eric Elam, Lisa Elam, Nicole (TJ) Doyle, Brett Ring, Tawny Ring, Jasmine Ring, mother-in-law; Chris Ring-Walka, brother-in-law Pat Ring, sister-in-law Betty-Gene Elam, and three cats; DC, Tipie, and Yellow Boy.
He was preceded in death by his brothers; Chuck Elam, and Ferris “Butch” Elam.
Jack was a long time member of American Legion Post 100 in Washington as well as an ABATE Member, and the UAW 974.
Jack worked over 40 years at Caterpillar working as a welder and material handler, retiring in 2011. In his free time he enjoyed riding motorcycles and spending time in the outdoors with his family and friends he will truly be missed by all who came in contact with him.
Jack will not only be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, and friend, but also as a proud United States Army Veteran.
A visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 pm on Friday August 31, 2018 at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria IL. A funeral service will follow.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Legion Post 100 in Washington IL.
