George Calvin Shepherd

He was born Jan. 19, 1928 in McLeod, MS to Rufus and Martha (Lockler) Howard. He married Polly Seal. She preceded him in death. He later married Genevieve Zak. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, R.H. and Herbert; and 2 sisters, Clarice Rhodes and Evelyn Goodson.

Surviving are his sister, Helen McKinney of AR; and 3 brothers, Tom of AL, John of TX, and Warren of MS.

George was a WWII Navy Veteran. He worked at Caterpillar Inc. before retiring. He was a lifetime member of the Shriners.

The family would like to give special thanks to a special friend, Madeline Steigler.

Cremation has been accorded. Memorial Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Family will receive friends one hour before services at the Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.RemmertFuneralHome.com.
