Gary Wayne Thomas

Gary was a graduate of East Peoria Community High School and studied Architecture at Southern Illinois University before entering active duty in the United States Navy where he served as a Radarman.

Gary was a News Director for a Charleston, SC television station after completing his tour in the Navy.

He then returned to his native East Peoria, IL to help with his family’s businesses and later opened and operated Airwaves Skatepark and Pro Shop in Peoria, IL.

Gary was a soft spoken, kind and giving person. He especially enjoyed time with his family.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles Thomas and Robert Thomas.

He is survived by two brothers, William (Brenda) Thomas of Washington, IL, and Ken (Sharon) Thomas of Tremont, IL, one sister Barbara (Mark) Oltman of Pekin, IL. He is also survived by one Uncle, Earl Gaylor of Atwood, IL, and by 11 nieces and nephews.

He endured many health challenges during his adult life, but always bounced back and never complained.

The Lord saw that he was suffering and called him home to live in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Cremation rites were accorded by Remmert Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Glenwood Cemetery in Shelbyville, IL.
