Donald Smith

He was born July 31, 1930 in Cuba, IL to Lyle and Ruth (Evans) Smith. He married Viola Haney Nov. 11, 1955 in Pekin. She survives along with two sons: Stuart (Chris) Smith of Huntington Beach, CA, Brad Smith of East Peoria, one daughter, Gloria (Ray) Dalberg of Washington, four grandchildren: Brooke (Greg) Sendelbach, Kaitlyn Wear, Christopher Dalberg, Courtney (Shawn) Allen, and one great-granddaughter, Madyson Wear.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Don was a Korean War Army Veteran. He worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 36 years retiring in 1982. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in East Peoria.

Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no public services at this time. Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his church.
