Donald E. McKenzie

Donald Elwood McKenzie, 88 of Morton formerly of East Peoria, IL., died at 9:30 pm Tuesday, November 8, 2011. Born March 2, 1923 in East Peoria, IL to Jess and Mae (Johnson) McKenzie, married Mary Ellen Blevins November 3, 1946 at the Free Methodist Church of East Peoria, IL. She survives.

Surviving is a son Donald L. (Jan) McKenzie of Marquette Heights, IL, two granddaughters Donna (Lee) Noonan of Bloomington, IL and Tracy (Phil) Flowers of East Peoria, IL and five great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Cindy (Rick) Fagerburg of Florida. A brother, Merle McKenzie died in infancy,

He worked as a truck driver for Cohen Furniture, head custodian at Bolin School in East Peoria, IL. Retired from Caterpillar in 1985. After retiring, he worked for Morton Park District Freedom Hall for 12 years.

He was of the Free Methodist faith.

Graveside Services will be held at 10 am Thursday November 17, 2011 at Fondulac Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 pm Wednesday at Remmert Funeral Home.
