Born February 10, 1938 to George & Ellen (Land) Collins in Darien, Georgia. She married Archie Simmons on December 30, 1956 in Jesup, Georgia. He passed away March 23, 2023.
Delores was also preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by two children, Lisa Monroe of North Carolina and Jeff Simmons of Creve Coeur; one sister, Mary Jo Yeomans of Jesup, Georgia.
Delores attended Wayne County High in Jesup, Georgia. She worked at Coldwell Banker’s Realtor from 1988 until her retirement in 2013.
She was the best cook in Tazewell County. Had a very soft heart for children that were treated badly. Delores and Archie volunteered at Habitat for Humanity for many years.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Remmert Funeral Home, East Peoria. Dean Kennedy will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in Delores’s name to Habitat for Humanity, St Jude Midwest Affiliate or an act of kindness for a neighbor.
