East Peoria, IL – Annie Mae Johnson, 89, of 610 West Cruger Ave, Eureka, formerly of East Peoria passed away at 4:45 PM on Friday December 9, 2011 at Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka. She was born on December 22, 1921 in Albertsville, AL to James and Ida Sims Duvall. She married Ellis Hunkeapillar who preceded her in death. She later married James E. Johnson. He also preceded her in death along with her parents; one daughter Ann L. Bredeman; three sisters and two brothers. She is survived by four daughters Lena (Charles) Ruppman of Chicago, Patricia Bohanan of Riverside, CA, Pamela (Stanley) Minson of East Peoria, and Linda (Randy) Westbrook of Bartonville; two sons John D. (Rebecca) Hunkeapillar of Oakdale, MN and Kenneth (Thresa) Johnson of Peoria; 19 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great Great Grandchildren. Annie was soon to celebrate the arrival of 2 Great Grandchildren. Also, surviving are three Brothers and one Sister, all of Alabama.
Annie was a Christian, a homemaker and a gardener. During World War 2 Annie wrote and read letters for families of service men and women.
Funeral Services will be private. Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. Remmert Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
