Bill was born in 1943 in Toledo, Ohio to Roy and Glenda Kahl. He met the love of his life, Jan Pease, at LaSalle’s department store in Toledo and they were married August 12, 1967. After graduating from the University of Toledo in 1969 he started his career in the financial services industry at Roose Wade. He later joined Prescott, Ball and Turben and moved to Lansing, Michigan to open an office there in 1973. Bill had a very accomplished career that involved both opening and managing offices across Michigan. His love for the industry was seen in the exemplary service he provided his clients until his retirement from Wells Fargo Advisors in 2017. An avid hunter and fisherman he was most happy on the dock behind his house or in a deer or duck blind. Bill enjoyed travel and did so both for outdoor sport and leisure pursuits which included a bucket list trip with Jan around the world. He was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and the Country Club of Lansing.
Bill is survived by Jan, his wife of 57 years, their two children Doug (Alison) Kahl and Lora (Matt) Winowiecki and three grandchildren Brendan, Mitchell, and Anabelle Kahl. Also surviving Bill is his brother Larry (Bev) Kahl and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Glenda Kahl and his sister Nancy (Si) Barry.
A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, October 9th at Redeemer Church in Dewitt, Michigan. (13980 Schavey Road, Dewitt, MI 48820). The family will receive family and friends immediately preceding the service from 11am – 1pm at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to University Christian Outreach – Ann Arbor Chapter (1502 River Terrace, East Lansing, MI 48823).
