Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Stump, sister Judy Young, sister-in-law Phyllis Stump, and nephew Stephen Stump. He is survived by his wife of eight years, Patty. He is also survived by his siblings Dorothy Richards, Stanley Stump, Fred (Kate) Stump; brother-in-law Tom Young; and several nieces and nephews.
Tom served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Barstow, California, from November, 1956, to November, 1958. He was employed at Motor Wheel for 18 years, Heath Jewelers in Lansing for six years, and retired from Aimco Corporation in 2001.
Tom loved model trains, jazz, the West and all of its history and took several trips with Patty to New Mexico and Arizona stopping at many forts and historic sites along the way. However, the greatest love of his life was golf. He spent many, many hours on the golf course playing and teaching his nieces and nephews. That’s probably why he stayed a “bachelor” to the age of 65.
