Sharon graduated from East Lansing High School and furthered her education at Lansing Community College. Her career as a Certified Professional Secretary was marked by significant contributions to the East Lansing Towne Courier, the State of Michigan, and in the fields of legal and medical transcription, where she was known for her meticulous attention to detail and dedication.
Beyond her professional life, Sharon was a woman of many passions. She cherished spending time at her parents cottage on Gun Lake, traveling, and camping with her family; creating memorable experiences. Her creative spirit was expressed through her skills in counted cross stitch, English smocking, and machine embroidery; crafts that she approached with precision and artistry.
Sharon leaves behind her loving husband of 49 years, Boyd A. Shumaker, her children, Michelle L. Shumaker and Kyle P. Shumaker, her sister Marilyn I. Townsend (Lee), and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant son Anthony R. Shumaker (1983), and her brother Roger Yoder (2005).
Sharon's life was one of vibrant engagement with her family, her work, her kitty, and her hobbies. Her legacy of love, dedication, and creativity will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
