Sally Sue Wood

Sally Sue Wood, age 81, of East Lansing, Michigan died on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. She was born on February 7th, 1942 in Moline, Illinois, to Arthur William and Jeanne Keith (Smith) Wood. Sally moved to Evanston, Illinois in 1955, where she graduated from high school, and then moved to the Burcham Hills Resident Center in East Lansing in 2011.

She was proud of her work as a volunteer in the Burcham Hills library. She enjoyed cardinals, working on jigsaw puzzles, and playing Farkle with friends at Burcham. She liked making greeting cards and sent them faithfully to family and friends. With her siblings and parents, she grew up in the Methodist Church. She liked singing hymns and playing in the handbell choir.

Survivors include: her brother Scott Wood and his partner Janet Capra, of Monrovia, Maryland; her sister Judy (Wood) Mitchell of Okemos, Michigan; her niece Kathe Mitchell of Haslett, Michigan; her nephew Bob Mitchell and his wife Robin (Zdanowski) Mitchell, of Plymouth, Michigan; her nephew Jim Mitchell, of Seattle, Washington; her grandniece Hanna Mitchell, of Plymouth, Michigan; and her grandnephew Ben Mitchell, of Seattle, Washington.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff and many friends at Burcham Hills, and to the doctors and nurses at Sparrow and McLaren hospitals.
