Robert Keith Rainey

Robert Keith Rainey (Tim) passed on April 23, 2022 at the Laurels of Carson City, surrounded by those who loved him most. Born on June 16, 1934 in Horton, MI to parents, Essie and Cecil Rainey, Tim was a lifelong Michigan Resident.

Tim graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Criminal Justice. His dedication to the MSU community did not end when he graduated. Tim worked as an MSU Police Officer in the mid 1950s. He continued as an avid MSU men's basketball fan cheering them on for many years as a season ticket holder at the Breslin Center. Tim married the love of his life, Mahrlene, on Decemeber 26, 1955 in Horton, Michigan and the couple was blessed with three daughters.

The family moved to Okemos, Michigan in 1962, and eventually relocated to Fowlerville, Michigan. He retired from Employers Mutual Casualty Company in 2000 after many years of service. After retiring, Tim found joy in working in his yard, and spending time with loved ones at the family's longtime cottage on Half Moon Lake in Stanton, Michigan.

Tim is survived by his 3 daughters, Marcia (Mark) Savara, Kimberly (Daniel) Sweet, and Michelle (Gregory) Tatara; 7 grandchildren, Katie (Abe) Wilson, Meaghan (Kyle) Hofstaedter, Jason (Amy) Sweet, Cory (Rachel) Sweet, Eric (Andrea) Sweet, Madelyn Tatara, and Ashleigh Tatara; 10 great grandchildren; and his feline buddy, Yogi. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mahrlene, and his great grandson, Zachary Sweet.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 29th from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes East Lansing Chapel 1730 E. Grand River Ave East Lansing, MI 48823. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 30th at 11am with a visitation at 10am at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes East Lansing Chapel.
