Robert is survived by his wife Carolyn; daughter Katherine; mother-in-law Mary Ellen Smith; and his mother, Estelle.
Robert was raised in Dayton, Ohio. After graduating W.E. Stebbins High School, Robert was a member of the first graduating class of the James Madison College at Michigan State University.
Robert was a loving husband and a devoted father, and exuded light and energy when speaking to his many friends about his family.
Robert was an accomplished musician and loved to play the guitar, sing and lend his unique creativity to the music of artists he admired and loved.
Widely traveled in his youth, Robert’s love of history and language was matched only by his love of music, and he studied the world with amazed curiosity until the very end of his life.
Robert was passionate about his work distributing locally and ethically sourced food through his company, Honey Boy Bob, which he operated until his retirement, at which time his beloved daughter Kate took over operations.
The lives of all who knew and loved Bob are forever richer for having known him. The memory of his kindness and loving nature is a celebration in which his friends and family can endlessly honor him.
Guests will be received at noon on Friday, November 18th at First Christian Church, 1001 Chester Street, Lansing, with services to follow at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Tri County Office on Aging in Robert's name.
The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Lansing Chapel. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.greastlansing.com.
