On Sunday, December 6, Robert Max Grimwood Jr. passed from death to life and entered the presence of his Savior. There to welcome him were his parents, Max (Robert Max Sr.) and Maxine, his brothers, Ron and Terry, a granddaughter, and many other friends and family members. Awaiting a future reunion are his wife of 51 years, Judy, and his brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Cheryl. Also remembering Bob and grieving this parting are his and Judy’s ten children, 7 sons-and-daughters-in-law, twenty-six grandchildren, and two+ great grandchildren.
Bob was pastor at Lake Lansing Baptist Church for more than twenty-six years and considered the title of Pastor to be his highest honor. Prior to his calling into the ministry, he had served as a teacher and principal, and his love of learning and education led him to complete several degrees, including his doctorate in education and a masters in archaeology.
While Bob had many loves—including his wife and family, his church, politics, history, geography, good jokes (and pretty bad puns), and pecan pie—his greatest love was learning and teaching about the Word of God and his great Savior. In his own words:
“I commit myself to God’s care, secure in His love for me and trusting in the salvation purchased for me through Christ’s suffering and death. I leave those who survive me the comfort of knowing that I have died in this faith and have joined my Lord in eternal glory. I commit my loved ones to the protecting arm of God, knowing that He will continue to provide for them despite my absence, and I encourage them to place their faith and trust in Him alone.”
A private graveside service was held. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 17th, 11 am at Lake Lansing Baptist Church, 5960 Okemos Rd, East Lansing, MI 48823.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Robert Grimwood Memorial Fund, at Lake Lansing Baptist Church, 5960 N. Okemos Rd., East Lansing MI 48823, online at www.lakelansingbaptist.org.
