Robert Edward Dunn

Robert was the son of Leo and Leota Dunn. He was one of 5 children, born March 12, 1932 in Lansing MI. He graduated from Sexton High school class of 1950. During his time in High School, he played saxophone in the marching band. He attended Michigan State College for 2 years. Robert enlisted in the Army in 1952 and served in the Korean War as a communication lineman and was honorably discharged in 1954. He worked for Oldsmobile doing tool design and being a metallurgist. He retired after 35 years in 1988. Robert enjoyed spending time with family, traveling on motor coach tours, doing home improvement projects, yardwork, woodworking, and drawing architecture plans. He spent time volunteering at church and at Sparrow Pediatric Arts and Crafts. He enjoyed watching MSU sports on TV as well as Detroit Tiger Baseball.

Robert married his wife Carol Ann (Hoke) April 15, 1967. They were married for 56 years. They had two daughters Emily Dunn and Joanne (Tim) MacCowan. Grandchildren Jeffrey (Jeannie) MacCowan and Lillian MacCowan (Easton Grim). Several nieces, nephews, and cousins were also special to him.

Visitation will be held on Friday May 19, 2023 from 6-8pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home 1730 East Grand River Ave. East Lansing, MI. The memorial service will be held on May 20 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to the service at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home 1730 East Grand River Ave. East Lansing, MI. Graveside will follow the service at Glendale Cemetery.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations go to River Terrace Church or Sparrow Home Hospice.
