Marie Stark, age 95, of Haslett, Michigan, formerly of East Lansing (Dearborn Heights since 2021), passed away on April 26, 2024. She was born Marie Agnes Glozeris on December 20, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois to Leonardas Glozeris and Agnes (Skoczylas) Glozeris who left Poland and Lithuania respectively in their early 20s for a better life in America.
Marie is survived by her sons, Robert C., Guy R., and Paul A. Stark; her daughter, Susan M. Ofria; daughter-in-law, Sally Petrella; son-in-law, Ian Ofria; granddaughters, Rane Stark-Buhl (husband Justin Gilmore) and Kaitlyn Ofria. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Stark; father, Leonardas Glozeris; mother, Agnes Glozeris; half-brothers, Joseph and Adolph Dravenack; brothers, Frank and Leo Glozeris.
After graduating from Wells High School in 1946, Marie held several jobs including at Lyon & Healy music store where she met her future husband. She was a dedicated fan of Frank Sinatra and wrote for the Frank Sinatra Fan Club newsletter. She enjoyed travelling the country through her employment with Capitol Airlines from 1950 to 1955. She earned an associate’s degree from Davenport University in the early 1980s and had a rewarding career serving as a Legislative Aide in the Michigan House of Representatives from the early 1970s to the mid-1990s.
Until the end, Marie was an avid reader with strong pro-democracy convictions. She leaves behind a legacy of intellectual curiosity and a deep concern for the future of democracy in our nation. Her proudest accomplishment was the raising of her four children.
She fell ill, was diagnosed with cancer, and died peacefully three weeks later surrounded by her family.

The visitation will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Gorsline Runciman East Lansing, 1730 E. Grand River Ave. East Lansing, Michigan; with a Rosary being prayed at 7:30. The Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, May 4 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church at 11:30 am, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to Mass. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
