East Lansing, Michigan
There are angels that live among us. They brighten our daily lives with their presence. Lydia was truly one of those angels. On Wednesday, January 3, 2018, Lydia passed away peacefully in her sleep.
Lydia was born in Princeton, New Jersey on April 9, 1926. The daughter of Italian immigrants, she was immensely proud of her Italian heritage. Her husband, father and brothers all served our country in various branches of the military. These were perhaps, the roots of her intense patriotism. Lydia was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a gentle, kind, caring and compassionate woman. Her generous, patient and nurturing ways were enjoyed by all that knew her. She always let the lights of others shine above her own. What a masterful homemaker Lydia was! She made her home a true haven for her husband, daughters, and all who visited there. Her gifts for cooking, canning, baking, sewing and quilting created a warm and welcoming home. This legacy makes it difficult to imagine a better wife and mother. She set a wonderful example for her family. Lydia’s industrious enthusiasm was unbelievable. She learned to swim and drive as an adult by taking lessons. She rode her bike daily and participated in the 3 day Lansing to Mackinaw City bicycle trip (D.A.L.M.A.C.). She attended water aerobics at the Hannah Center well into her 80s. She was a jogger and power walker. What an inspiration she was to others.
Having shared 65 wonderful years of marriage, Lydia lost her beloved husband Richard on December 29, 2015. He was the love of her life and the center of her universe. It is comforting to know they are reunited again. Lydia’s loving presence will be greatly missed by her daughters, Linda Fuller, Mary (Tom) Bradley and Nancy (Randy) Erridge; along with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her spirit will endure in their hearts and lives forever. Her family was a source of tremendous joy in her life. She treasured each and every one of them and created a lifetime of special memories with them. Also left to mourn her loss is her sister, Helen Perone and many nieces and nephews.
In remembrance of Lydia, please continue her legacy of kindness by doing a kind deed for others.
Perhaps spend time with family, share a meal with someone, or make or bake a homemade item for a friend or family member. What a wonderful way this would to be honor a truly great lady.
