Leslie graduated from Grand Blanc High School and attended Michigan State University where she met and married Michael Mulvaney, who was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. Leslie immersed herself in nurturing her family and many dear friendships through 22 years as a military spouse while stationed at Fort Benning Georgia, Fort Campbell Kentucky, Fort Knox Kentucky, Fort Lee Virginia, Fort Dix New Jersey, Pirmasens Germany, and West Point New York before retiring to Okemos Michigan. In addition to volunteering at numerous school, church, and community functions she worked as a religious education coordinator and retail sales associate. She devoted the last 22 years to embracing and loving her role as professional grandma, earning her the title “Best Gigi Ever”.
Leslie will be lovingly remembered by her husband Michael; her children: Laura (Thaylen) Leany, Douglas (Abby) Mulvaney, Sara (Jason) Beldyga; grandchildren: Heather, Justin, and Amanda Leany; Logan and Gavin Mulvaney; and Raegan, Rylee, and Brody Beldyga; sister: LaShell (Harry) Tallent; and brothers: Steve (Sue) Hatten, and Scott (Melynda) Hatten. Leslie was preceded in death by her father Robert, mother Clare, sister Lesa Sanftleben, and grandson Ryan Leany.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, January 20, 2023 at the Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd, Holly, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the MSU Army ROTC Major David A Jackson Memorial Scholarship Fund at https://givingto.msu.edu/gift/?sid=14248
