Keith L. Schroeder, aged 90, a greater Lansing home builder and developer, passed away after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's March 20, 2023, Born in Cedar Lake, MI, he was the youngest of twelve. His parents, Homer Schroeder and Livonia (nee Mallory) and ten of his siblings predeceased him. The surviving brother, Arnold "Jake" (Arlene) Schroeder, resides in Tucson, AZ. Also surviving are his wife of 39 years, Beverly Allred Schroeder, his son Robert Schroeder of East Lansing, his daughter, Barbara Sharp (Duane Putnam), East Lansing, his son Brian "Duff" (Vicki) Schroeder, Okemos, stepson, Thad Eubank, Holt, and stepson, Seth (Sara) Eubank, Osteen, FL. Also surviving are his eight grandchildren, Joe Schroeder, Dewitt; Jason (Pam) Sharp, Alto; Nicole (Jesse) Soldan, Laingsburg, Jennifer (Phillip) Clacko, DeWitt; Brian Schroeder, Okemos; Jeff (Kelly Hall) Schroeder, East Lansing: Ashlee (Loren) Croskey, New Buffalo; Kenzee (Darrik) Turner, Rockford. Also left to grieve for him are seventeen great-grandchildren, a myriad of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In the 1980's, he was a pioneer in creating energy efficient homes and received national recognition for his efforts. For many years he was active in the Lansing Home Builders Association and served in many capacities including president. His father and brothers were given credit for teaching him his carpentry and woodworking skills. He, in turn, mentored family members and many others, in not only learning building skills, but life skills. All three of his children work in the building industry.
A Memorial Service in memory of Keith will be held on April 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Eagle Eye Banquet Center, 15500 Chandler Rd. Bath, MI 48804, with visitation starting at 10:30 AM.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers and staff at Robinwood Landing Memory Care for their compassionate care of Keith while there, and a special thanks to his caring roommate David Henderson and the whole Henderson family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Alzheimer's research or Habitat for Humanity.
