Julie Miller was born on June 10, 1921 in Erie, PA and passed away on November 2, 2015 at the age of 94. Julie taught English and reading at Perry High School for 12 years. She was the wife of Boyd Miller, associate professor emeritus of journalism at Michigan State University. Mrs. Miller and her husband came to the Lansing area in 1969 after living in Mentor and Dayton Ohio, Buffalo and Milwaukee. They were graduates of Ohio University and have a home in Haslett. Mrs. Miller was active in the Ingham County Republican Party, serving as assistant chair and board member. In Ohio she was a reporter for the Lake County News Herald and an editor at Lubrizol Corp. The Millers were members of Emanuel First Lutheran Church. Surviving is a son, Steve, who is an investigative journalist. Also surviving is Steve’s fiancée, Andrea, teacher at the University of Florida. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Emanuel, 1001 North Capitol Ave., Lansing with Rev. Paul Lindloff officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Burial and Committal Service will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan.
