Joan was born on May 13, 1930 in Chicago, IL to Harold and Helen Hull. She attended and graduated from Evanston High School. In Joan’s college years at Michigan State University she met her husband Jim on a blind date. They would marry in 1951, and from that point on Jim’s working career moved the family from Mason, to Okemos, to Bloomfield Hills to two incredible years in Pretoria, South Africa and then finally back to Okemos. Joan became a pro at setting up new households at each of these locations and always loved the adventures of traveling the world. Her humor and storytelling will greatly be missed. Upon the passing of her husband Jim in 1991, she was named President of Inco Graphics in Mason, MI a then four generation printing/newspaper operation. Her retirement years were spent enjoying Longboat Key, FL.
From the family:
Our Mom had an incredible and positive will to live over the years. She beat all the odds to be alive time and time again. We will always be endeared to Dr. Ibrahim Shah, MD, and Dr. Jihad Mustapha, MD these past 12 years who gave her quality of life through their skills with modern medicine.
Our Mom survived the Covid-19 pandemic. She would spend her time painting her favorite scenic travel photos for family and many nurses and staff who cared for her at Burcham Hills Retirement Center, and we will always be thankful for their compassionate care and kindness.
