Okemos, MI, Formerly of Kansas
Born April 23, 1930 to Christopher & Gladys Frye, Jo Ann passed away August 28, 2016 at the age of 86. Jo Ann was the kindest, sweetest, big hearted lady who was always doing everyone’s mending and helping when she could. She would consider herself a crafter, whether quilting, crocheting, or even canning, but most would consider her an artist. She couldn’t sit still for even a minute, was very creative, and made the most delicious apple pies even though she did not particularly care for the dessert herself. Jo Ann was everyone’s “Go To Grandma”.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband Harold Smith, whom she married June 15, 1957. She is also preceded by her parents; step father Harry Clark; daughter-in-law Lorae Bonneau; five brothers and one sister. Surviving to cherish her memory are her children Christine Rosenau, Daniel Smith, Shirley Smith (Shelley Davis); grandchildren Trina (Brent) Davidson, Jason Kaiser, Christopher (Brittany) Smith, Michelle Hempton; great grandchildren Zachary Davidson, Derek & Rachel Dersch; brother Kenneth Frye; any many more who’s lives she’s touched along the way.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 am Friday, September 2, 2016 at Christian Memorial Cemetery, 521 E Hamlin Rd, Rochester Hills, MI with a committal service officiated by Rev. Ron Strobel.
