Passed away April 14, 2011 at the age of 55. Jay was born on September 14, 1955, the son of Warren and Arlene Kellogg of Lansing. Jay was a 1974 graduate of Lansing Eastern High School and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in zoology from Michigan State University in 1978. Mr. Kellogg retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years of service. Jay was an avid fly fisherman and tied extraordinary flies. He had a passion for the game of chess and rarely lost. Jay was a giving person. His desires for himself were few. To his wife, Jay was a sweet and gentle man. He was preceded in death by his father, Warren and infant grandson Logan Alexander Meyer. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth (Cook) Buchner- Kellogg; mother Arlene Kellogg Price; sister Laura Kellogg (Kelly);stepchildren Abigail Meyer (Greg), Jared Christopher Buchner; nephew Christopher Jay Kellogg; grandchildren Austin Bryan Kruger and Grant Emerson Meyer who love their “Bumpa”.
Jay held steadfast to his own values and beliefs. He was not easily swayed and stayed true to himself. There was never any pretense about who he was. After a hard fought battle he has peace and serenity with a loving God in Heaven and is fishing with angels. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Allegiance Hospice Home, 2150 Kingsbrooke Drive, Jackson, MI 49202 in memory of Jay.
