I still miss my doctor/christian mentor/friend.  Still going to Cornerstone Family Medicine but wish he was there.  Heavenly peace to you my dear friend.

I miss Dr. Rowliinson so much..  He was the best and I'm pretty sure no one can top him.. He was a huge part of my journey to the bible and God.  I loved when we could end our visit in Prayer.  I just don't understand why God took him.  He was powerful in his belief and passed it on to so many.  Seriously, why did he have to go.   So sad he is gone from my life.  God has better plans for him.  I'm  just happy I had the time with him while he was here with us all.  Love u Dr.  Rowlinson.

I was shocked to hear of the Dr, Rawlinson's passing.  He was my physician for over 20 years.  He was there when both my children were born and was their doctor also.  He was always kind and very helpful.  You never left the office without knowing what was going on with your health.  I was sad that I  had to leave his office due to my insurance.  I haven't found a doctor quite like him.

Today I found out the sad news from a friend that Dr. Rawlinson passed away. I am a retired pharmaceutical representative. Dr. Rawlinson was a client and a friend. I had known him for a long time. He was one of my most friendly clients. He was a wonderful family man who was really proud of his children accomplishments. Regardless how busy he used to be, he would stop by to say hello and sign my IPAD for samples. He loved to learn about the new information on medicines and if had time would also come to evening programs. I am really heart broken. I can't believe that he is gone. He is a real loss to the community and humanity.

I had the opportunity to work at Cornerstone for 6 years.  In that time, I grew not only as a person but as a believer.  It was so incredible to work with Dr. Rawlinson,  to be encouraged to pray with a patient when the Spirit so moved without fear.  I was on the receiving end of some of being prayed over by him.  The last prayer he said over me was my last day before I started nursing school.  Thinking about it now still brings tears to my eyes.

How very touching to read through the sincere expressions of appreciation and love for Jim.  I met Jim when we were medical students at MSU in the 70’s, and then rotated as interns together at St. Lawrence Hospital in 1979.  He so impressed me then as a quality human being in all respects – caring, smart, hard working.  Although serious, he had a relaxed manner and sometimes impish sense of humor.  His faith guided him, and that is a beautiful example which influenced us all.  Love, blessings and condolences to Arlene and the family. 

Dr. Rawlinson has been our family physician for over thirty years.  I have never met a kinder, gentler man in my whole life.  He always took the time to actually listen to you during appointments and encouraged you to call and let him know how you were doing with a specific goal he had you working on, be it eating better, getting more exercise, whatever.   He genuinely took an interest in his patients lives, always gently encouraging us to take better care of ourselves.  He is irreplaceable and will be terribly missed.  RIP dear man.

Dr Jim has been my family’s primary physician for over 33 years.  He delivered both of my daughters and has been an excellent doctor & friend to us.  He prayed over my daughter when she was experiencing health issues.  I have never forgotten how impressive & comforting that moment was .  He is already sorely missed.  What a beautiful human being!  My condolences to his family &  closest friends.  RIP until we meet again in God’s kingdom Dr. Rawlinson.

I was saddened to hear of Dr. Rawlinson's passing. I admired him not only because he was an excellent Dr. that stayed on top of the latest medical info  but also for the caring manner he treated his patients. He always took time to truly listen to your concerns and answer all your questions. We dealt with some of the same health issues so I appreciated him sharing his ways of coping including natural medicines. He was my favorite Dr. for over 13 years, I will miss him and he will never be forgotten. I'm sorry he didn't make it to his retirement to have more time to enjoy himself after all his dedicated years of giving.  My deepest sympathy goes out to his entire family. Take Care.   
 

Mike and I are so sorry to hear of Jim's passing.  We've known him since our first born in 1979.  He was a wonderful doctor and dear friend to our family and saw us through many trials and challenges.  Our prayers are with the family during this difficult time. His exercise suggestions and supplemental vitamin recommendations were always helpful. His genuine care and willingness to pray for us showed that he loved us. We loved him and will always have a special memory of him in our hearts.

Arlene, I was so sorry to read about Jim's death.  I remember him picking up the children when you were teaching aerobics classes at Fitness Factory.  It was obvious he loved his family.    I also remember him as a student in Lyman Briggs College.

Dr. Rawlinson became my primary physician when I moved to Lansing in 1982 and was the only primary physician I've had since then.  He was a caring, deeply knowledgeable doctor and had a sense of humor.  I enjoyed (a surprising word for visiting the doctor) talking with him when I went in for exams or even when I was sick.  He made you feel special.  I thought of him recently and was looking forward to my annual physical.

We were deeply saddened to learn of Jim's passing. He was a good man in every sense of the word. We trusted him in so many ways. He provided heartfelt friendship, excellent medical care and comforting spiritual guidance to both of us, to our children, and even to our grandchildren.
Jim's prayers at the end of a medical appointment helped our souls as much as his medical care helped our bodies. We count it a privilege and a blessing to have known Jim and been among his many friends and  patients.

Jim has been my friend and doctor for over 40 years.  I have loved his personal care and his expertise --and knowing his faith in Christ was a tremendous blessing.   He always went the extra mile.  Of great blessing to me was that knowing I was more interested in more natural methods, he would share many many helpful tips and tidbits in that field which I still remember and use.  I will never forget his words of wisdom, his humor, his smile and the love of Jesus which always shined through him.  He was a fanatastic doctor and friend.  I will miss him, but look forward to that reunion in heaven one day.  Arlene and family, my husband Jim and I have prayed many rosaries for Jim and for you all.  God be with you as you go forward. In our much younger days, I used to regularly play racketball with Jim.  One day we were playing and I was not wearing any protection for my eyes.  At one point I hit Jim with the ball right in one of his eyes.  His glasses went flying and he started bleeding from two places on his face.  He had to get a bag of ice to help keep the swelling down.  I felt terrible and expressed this to Jim.  I still remember his response. "Praise God it was me who was hit and not you."  He went on to tell me (in medical terms) what likely would have happened to my unprotected eyes if I had been hit instead of him.  I never again played racketball without protection.  Jim delivered my first born son more than 40 years ago.  He was my friend and my doctor.  He made the world a better place.  Well done good and faithful servant.

I am just today learning  of Dr. Rawlinson's passing. I have been a patient of his for almost 40 years.   I found him at MSU when I was first pregnant with my son, when I was just 23.  As many others have shared, he always made me feel like I was his only patient of the day, calm and caring.  One of my favorite stories I share about him, is when I was in my 3rd trimester, he advised bedrest for me to protect me  from an early delivery.  Truly not wanting me to get up and about, he made a house call to our apartment to check on me
and my baby's progress.  Wasn't there long, but I sure felt cared for and in very reassuring hands.  Thank you Dr. Rawlinson for all you have done for me and my family over all these years.  We are so grateful for you and so sad for this news. Our prayers go out to your family.

My husband and I first met Dr Rawlinson when I sought out a Christian doctor to deliver my second baby 38 years ago. He ultimately delivered 7 of my 10 children and continued to be our trusted and much loved family doctor even after we moved 100 miles away about 30 years ago. Yes, we have been driving all that way for everything all this time. For several of my deliveries we drove to Lansing and stayed in a hotel there for several weeks just so we’d be able to have Dr. Rawlinson deliver the babies. Our entire family is grieved at this great loss and pray for his family.   The Krueger Family

Dr. Rawlinson was such a unique individual.  Clearly, Jim was very Christlike, having the Wisdom of Christ, the Love of Christ, the Helpfulness of Christ, and the ability to give you Hope for the future.  His kindness was shown to everyone who came in contact with Jim.  Truly a special friend to many.  Arlene and their Family were Blessed to have Jim in their lives.  Gone too soon.  

I probably was one of his first regular patients, having first seen him when he was still practicing through MSU back in the 1980's.  Several of my friends became his patients as well.  In addition to being an exceptionally caring and excellent Doctor, he was an excellent human being.  He always made you feel like you were being heard, he was always also mindful of people's personal situations such as financial, emotional.  I trusted him with my most precious son.  I remember once bumping into him at a "parent and child" Christmas crafting session, and we joked about my sons exuberance.  As much as I am sad with his passing, I can only feel empathy for his family and other loved ones who have a greater loss.  My your memories help you, Please know that he was a major influence for many.

He was our family Dr. For over 35 years.  Last year was the first time he didn't do my annual physical. He was the best! RIP Dr. Rawlinson!

Dr Rawlinson has been my doctor since I was in my late teens and has been my only physician in adult life.   He came out of OB retirement for me (Dr Saxena left his practice leaving me without OB care) when  I was 7 months pregnant .  He delivered my daughter Morgan who is now 21.  I believe she is his final delivery ever.  She was 9#13oz and a very difficult delivery.  I will always be grateful for his care, skill and presence in the room that day!  He will be greatly missed! Praying for peace and healing to all of those who carry him in their hearts.  We were blessed by Dr Rawlinson!  

He drove me to a conference and prayed a rosary with me. He spent countless hours pitching me softballs, and coaching me to hit the ball out of the infield. He showed me how to overcome Epstein Barr virus with remarkable speed. And, oh yes, he delivered my 3 oldest children. Countless other one -on- ones with Jim.  Hebrews 13:2 "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for some have entertained angels unawares.." This is backwards. I am the one who has been unaware that over the years, in my relationship with Jim, it is I who have been entertained by an angel. 

Dr. Rawlinson was a wonderful doctor who explained health issues to me thoroughly, and approached health in a holistic way. I am very thankful and grateful for his guidance and care the past seven years. His loss is a great one, and he will be missed forever. Thank you Dr. Rawlinson for being a light during your time here on Earth.

So What Happened to Dr. Rawlinson?

My heart is stunned! Dr. Rawlinson has been my doctor since I was 17 years old and pregnant with my first child. He has been caring for me and my children (adults now) for over 35 years. This man has prayed with me, shed tears with me and always been a quiet listening ear for me. He has always resembled the likeness of Christ. 
I love him dearly and will miss him greatly! My prayer for his family and love ones is for peace and comfort from our Lord. 

On Dr. Rawlinson's birthday in 1994, he drove me from his office to the hospital where, 24 hours later, he delivered my son. His patient, calm and reassuring demeanor was such a comfort to me throughout my pregnancy and especially when my water broke a month early. He got me in clean scrubs and reassured me that the baby was just fine as he transported me next door. His loss is a loss to the community and he will be greatly missed.

Dr. Rawlinson is the only family physician that I have had in my adult life. I was 24 and pregnant with my first child in 1984 when we first met and now my three children are adults and away from home and I am nearing retirement age. I thank God that he was a part of my family’s  life for so many years, but I will always miss his gentleness, patience, kindness, thoroughness and his knowing smile. I’m sure he heard “well done, good and faithful servant.” 

My mom recently shared the sad news of Dr Rawlinson's passing. The community has lost someone very special! As I read through some of the memories others have shared, I find my head nodding in agreement at most of the words. It's also nice to know that the kind man we saw as our family Dr (from the age of 5 for me) was the same kind man in his personal life. He was a rare and unique Dr...you sat in front of him, while he listened/ counseled as if you were the only patient of the day. He never rushed a single visit that I can remember! His touch brought comfort when there was anxiety and his soft, calm voice could put you at ease. I can remember a middle of the night call with him when I thought I couldn't do anything right with my newborn (16 yrs ago), he put everything right and calmed us. Thank you to his family for sharing him and his gift of compassion at times when we felt low. Our thoughts are with his family. We are so very sorry for your loss and wish you peace during this time ❤ we also wish his staff and friends comfort as well.

What a struggle this will be  for your beloved  family and the rest of us…Dr. Jim, you are already so deeply missed. We thank you, your family, and all of your team, past and present. You ministered to us with your amazing medical knowledge and guidance. You shared high fives, prayers, tears, and laughs with us.   I became a patient of Dr. Rawlinson in my mid 40's and I'm now 86.  At that time
his practice was at St. Lawrence Hospital  and included the delivering of babies.
  I have found him to be an amazing physician who was well grounded in medical
knowledge,  but also in the practical things of living a healthy life.  Special memories 
for me are the severaI times when he took  the time to pray with me.    I will miss him greatly not only as my doctor, but as a friend.  My sincere prayers to his family at this difficult time.



We knew Jim Rawlinson before he was "Dr.", and we've never met a man more fitted by God to become a family physician. We were blessed to have him as ours for many years. He knew how to listen, and took the time to do it. He always treated the whole patient, not just the ailment. He never dismissed our questions or concerns or fears, but treated them with sensitivity and understanding. In all these things, he reflected the Lord whom he faithfully served. We mourn his loss, and are thankful to have known him. We pray for peace and comfort for Arlene and their family, and thank them for sharing Jim with us.

Dr. Rawlinson was one of a kind doctor. He cared just as much about his patients physical health as he did their spiritual health. He delivered two of our four children and was our primary doctor since 1985. Words can not express the sadness and loss we feel at the news of his passing. Knowing that he is with his Lord and we will see him again someday brings a sense of peace to us. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family as they deal with their grief. It's not very often that someone crosses your path and leaves an imprint forever.  Dr. Rawlinson is someone that left his imprint in my heart.   My heart breaks to hear of his passing.  I only know him as his patient, but felt a lasting friendship with him.   We would talk about so many things during our appointment together.  We ended the visit with prayer.  He was amazing how he could say a prayer from his heart and love for our Lord Jesus Christ.  He told me stories of his work through the church and healing for others that brought tears to his eyes.   It is hard to understand why God has choose to take him now.   There is something very special waiting for him in Heaven.  I will miss him dearly. Dr. Rawlinson was my doctor. He was in such demand it was hard to get in to see him. When I did, I  found him to be a very kind and gentle man. He had a great bedside manner.  The medical profession has lost a great man. 

Dr Rawlinson was a legendary Dr,  friend and coworker.  My heart aches for his loss for myself, his patients and most of all his family.   May God's love comfort you during this difficult time.

My family have known Jim as a doctor and friend for 41 years.  He delivered all three of our children, and never failed to give the highest level of care and support throughout our various illnesses and medical issues.  For us, he defined everything that a caring Christian family doctor should be, and he will be sorely missed by us all.  Our family are all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, and recognize that death is a transition to a better place, but it is also accompanied by the sadness and loss of a loved one no longer being present with us.  Jim was very special and we will miss him dearly.
We do wish his family and the health care workers of his practice our deepest and most sincere condolences.  Jim was a great man, with a great God, and you are a great team.


In 1980, I was looking for a new family Doctor.  I was sharing with a friend my frustration of not knowing how to find a good doctor.  She highly recommended Dr. Rawlinson.  I have given thanks numerous times for that suggestion.  Jim was not just a good Doctor, he was an excellent Doctor.  

Jim has helped my family through many crises.  His knowledge, encouragement, kindness, attentiveness, and deep faith have steadied us through some very rough times.   

The person and the Physician that Jim was, in my experience, has set a  very high standard bar.  I have rarely encountered other Physicians that  can even come close to meeting the  level of quality and excellence I have grown used to  being a patient of Jim's.   

I send my condolences and prayers to his family.  I feel blessed to have known and been a patient of Dr. James Rawlinson.  Jim will be sorely missed.

I first met Dr. Rawlinson when I worked as a nurse in the Newborn Nursery at St. Lawrence Hospital. I watched as he cared for a critically ill newborn, and then said a prayer for him. My husband and I were new to this area,  so it was then and there that I chose him to be our family physician. That was over forty years ago and it proved to be an absolute blessing!
As we go through our lives we come across many great people. Dr. Rawlinson was more than great, he was exceptional. His passing brought great sadness to me because he was always there for advice and comfort in times of need .
I send my heartfelt sympathy to his friends and family. I’m certain Dr. Rawlinson will continue to pray for all of us from heaven.  Rest In Peace Jim. 

Well done good and faithful servant. We rejoice that you are now in heaven with Jesus. I am so thankful for the time we have had with Dr. Jim. We are heartbroken by our loss. Dr. Rawlinson was for many years my primary care physician and delivered my son. He was always a very kind, gentle and loving person along with being an outstanding physician. My son had Down syndrome and in the first year of his birth he gave my wife and I tickets to Handel's Messiah at the Wharton Center. He is now home and we all should be happy for him.

Dr.  Jim and Arlene,  You taught health and fitness when members of the WOC in Lansing and I followed your lead.  You both lived it!  I am so thankful for the years God gave me with you. It has been years yet I think of you both with thanks and appreciation.  I live off a road named Rawlinson Rd. It will be a reminder, whenever I drive, that God, in His mercy, allowed me to benefit from having your influence in my life.  Arlene, my prayers for you, in your grief,  are that you know God’s comfort and presence in the days ahead. I am so sorry for your loss.

My husband and I met Dr. Jim in 1988, we needed someone special because my Jim was a quadriplegic who needed someone who would go the extra mile and God got us in the door because Dr. Jim wasn't taking any new patients..We loved Dr. Jim right from the beginning, he had wisdom, cared deeply for his patients, my Jim got excellent care and was loved for 21 years! We felt he was more than our physician he was our dear friend and God's Angel watching over us! Thank you God for giving us Dr. Jim! I first knew Dr. Rawlinson at St. Lawrence and was so glad he became my husband and my primary care Dr. A truly wonderful and caring Dr who will be greatly missed. My prayers for the family and dedicated staff at Cornerstone.

It is with shock and sadness that I learn of James' passing. I've been a patient of his since the early days of his practice when it was located in the medical building on the corner of (then) Logan Street and Saginaw (within walking distance from my home). I offer my thoughts and prayers and wish to extend my deepest condolences to his family and friends. 

Dr Rawlinson was more than our family Dr. for 30+ years, he was a friend. I don’t know many Dr’s who would open their office to see a patient in distress at 10pm and pray, give sage advice and write a prescription. Another time he actually wrote a prescription for me for the devotional “Jesus Calling” which helped me refocus on the Lord ! Dr Rawlinson was a great man and now sees the “Cornerstone” face to face ! He was a modern day Luke the Evangelist. He was always willing to pray and share the love of Christ. We will miss you. What a great man!  Dr. Rawlinson certainly made a positive difference in the world.  He treated our maladies, prayed with us and delivered our nieces and nephews.  It was our blessing to know him.

I have been a patient of Dr. Rawlinson for over 30 years.  I can say I have never had a physician as knowledgeable and thorough as he.  In this age of get patients in and out as quickly as you can, he never practiced that idea.  He spent the time needed. He was a kind and gentle soul and will be deeply missed.

Dr. Rawlinson was our family physician for 25+ years and we are heartbroken to learn of his death.  He was such a warm presence to be around and we always looked forward to our appointments.  As a medical professional, he stayed on top of the research and we always felt well taken care of and grateful to be in his care.  We spoke with him on a telehealth in late December, 2020 and recall how he made everything lighter for us, even though we had great family loss recently.  We are praying for his wife and the family and will never forget the kindnesses extended to us by this faith-filled man of God.  Rest in peace Dr. Rawlinson.

Dr. Rawlinson was my husband & I family physician for over 30 years. He was kind, patient and a good listener.  He prayed with my husband when he was going through depression. He called me at home on a Sunday evening to discuss my medical issue because he did not get a chance to do so before leaving the office ( who does that but a Dr James Rawlinson) He will be missed by us. We can’t thank him enough for his years of service & dedication to the medical profession.

Dr. Rawlinson was my primary for over 35 years. He delivered two of my three children. His compassion and support when he told us our youngest had Down syndrome was greatly appreciated. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, he asked me how was my spirituality and if he could say a prayer with me. It meant so much to have his support. I am a nurse and have worked with many doctors through the years. Dr. Rawlinson was one of the most kindest, compassionate, knowledgeable, thorough, and skilled provider I have ever known. He will be greatly missed. Sending prayers for him and his family. 

Dr. Jim Rawlinson was my doctor and my personal friend for many years. He was humble, gentle and kind. The compassionate character of Jesus Christ was always evident in him and, like his Savior, he was always talking to his Heavenly Father. Jim was one of the best men I've ever known and I look forward to seeing him again in heaven. 

Dr. Rawlinson was my physician for over 30 years.  He was a kind, gentle, caring Christian man.  I am extremely saddened to learn of his death.  

Dr Rawlinson was more than a dr to me, he was a friend.  He has been my dr for 41 yrs. !  He was doing his residency when I first saw him.  He prayed with me many, many times àfter family and personal tragedies.   I can't begin to say how much I will miss him and his smile whèn he would greet me. I spoke to him in August  2020 and he told me then that he was very sick and I thought of him often wodering how he was.  I  am sorry I found out just yesterday by mistakè of his passing.  Heaven has a good man and I know the Lord is pleased with his choice.  Regards to his family and May God comfort you.

Dr. Rawlinson had been my doctor for over 35 years. He was always kind and very compassionate   I appreciated his heart for the Lord.  We would often end our appointment with a word of prayer addressing a current health issue. He never made me feel bad about my self.  He will be greatly missed. But he is now part of the great cloud of witnesses cheering us on in our race.
