Okemos, Michigan
Passed away on January 4, 2012 after a brief illness. Jack was born on March 8, 1921 in
Baldwin, Michigan. He graduated from Michigan Technological University in 1943 and married
Alberta Grover on September 18, 1948. He served in the Corps of Engineers in both WWII and,
as a captain, in the Korean Conflict. Jack worked as liaison engineer for Oldsmobile, retiring
in 1981. He was a life-long member of Peoples Church in East Lansing. Jack was an avid
outdoorsman and he especially enjoyed fishing in the Pere Marquette River. He also enjoyed
watching Detroit Lions football and spending summers at Big Star Lake with family and
friends.
Jack is survived by wife Alberta Wallace; children Gary Wallace of Rapid City, SD, Jacklyn D.
Wallace of Denver, CO, and, Greg (Melody) Wallace of Williamston, MI; grandchildren Jason
(Jill) Elliott of Denver, CO, Ali Wallace of Williamston, MI, and Enya Wallace of Rapid City,
SD; and great-grandchild Dylan Elliott of Denver, CO.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 11:00 a.m. at Peoples Church, 200 W.
Grand River Ave., East Lansing with the Rev. Penelope Swartz officiating. The family will
receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Those desiring may make memorial
contributions to the Shriners Hospital for Children, P.O. Box 3261, Saginaw, MI 48605 in
Jack’s memory. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East
