Irving was born May 7, 1921 to Irving Gleason Sr. and Goldie Strousser, he was the oldest of six children. Irving married Ruby Beers on September 28, 1940. They were happily married for 69 years until her death October 23, 2009. He served in the U.S. Army during WW11 as a mechanic. In 1953 he began his career with Lansing Board of Water and Light in Water Distribution. He retired after 30 years in 1984. Irving volunteered in many different areas, he delivered blood state wide for the Red Cross and he also donated his own blood for many years. He was a crossing guard for Allen Street School, keeping candy in his pockets for the little ones. He attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Lansing where he volunteered as an usher and many other jobs for the church.
Irving enjoyed spending time at his small cabin where he loved getting together with his family, fishing, and taking many naps. He was greatly loved by many and will be greatly missed!
Irving is survived by his sons, Ted (Debbie) Gleason, Jack (Sue) Gleason; daughter, Judy (Doug) Zimmerman; grandchildren, Kristie (Jeff) Cheadle, Scott (Tina) Gleason, Rick (Shaun) Gleason, Todd (Heather) Gleason, Michelle (Glenn) Nasrey, Jason (Erin) Zimmerman, Melissa (Joe) Travis, and Amy (Brad) Bird; twenty three great grandchildren; and many great great grandchildren.
Irving was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruby, his son, Jim Gleason, daughter-in-laws, Karen Gleason and Sandy Gleason.
Funeral services will take place Tuesday, July 14th, 2020 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 1730 E. Grand River Ave. East Lansing, Michigan. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of service at 1 p.m.
Interment will follow at Deepdale Memorial Gardens in Lansing.
