Hussein Ahmed Siraj

In 1967 (1959 Ethiopian Calendar) he married Belletu Mehretu, in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia. Who survives along with their children Fifi, Teddy(Hilina) and Temesgen (Carol), three grandchildren Llul, Ariah, and Alula, sisters Tirwork, Almaz (Abebaye) and brother Yesuf. Hussein was preceded in death by his parents Mohamed Siraj, Yeshumnesh Ahmed, Ahmed Siraj and brothers Ali Muhe, Siraj Ahmed and sister Zeyneba Ahmed.

The first from his family to attend high school, college and higher education, Major General, in the Ethiopian army. He left Desse with his cousin Ahmed to attend high school in Addis Abeba at the age of about 15.

He served his country for over 33 years from 1958 -1991 (1950 -1983 Ethiopian Calendar) in the Ethiopian Army.

Hussein will be deeply missed by his loving wife, children, brother, sisters, grandchildren, family and friends.

A funeral service to celebrate Hussein’s life will be held Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 11:00am with a visitation one hour prior at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home 1730 E. Grand River Ave. East Lansing, MI 48823. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
