At a young age, she committed her life to Jesus her Lord and followed Him for more than 80 years. She graduated from Moody Bible Institute and soon after married Lawrence A Powell on Feb 14, 1955 and was married for 23 years before his death.
For years she taught two and three year olds in Sunday School and worked as a bank teller until her retirement. She enjoyed volunteering at Camp Barakel both as a young woman and later in life. She enjoyed reading, played a mean game of cards and it has been said that she made the world’s best chocolate chip cookies.
She prayed faithfully for her four children to know and serve the Lord. Her husband, Lawrence and sister, Arlyle Wilcox and two grandsons, Joshua and Timothy Schrauger, preceded her into Glory. By example she left a legacy of faithfulness to her children, Ruth Powell, Dave (Rachael) Powell, Marilyn Powell and Vicki Schrauger, her grandchildren: Kristina (Jon) Valezquez, David (Kate) Schrauger, Stephen (Jessie) Schrauger, Ben (Lauren) Powell, Nate Powell, Karen (Josh) Wyse and 17 great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held on Jan. 8, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Red Cedar Church, 550 W. Grand River Ave., Okemos with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.
