Georgia Anne Carpenter, 75, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 23, 2018. She was a true matriarch of her family – an embodiment of the Proverbs 31 woman, she lovingly cared for and spent time with all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed camping, crafting beautiful things, and scrapbooking her family memories for the generations to come. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and during the season, she had every room and every surface of her home decorated with striking and meaningful pieces for her family to enjoy.
Georgia had a servant’s heart, and beyond her love of her family, she gave to everyone she met. In her career, Georgia worked as a school secretary for Wardcliff Elementary in Okemos and loved the children she met over the years. She also worked as a social worker in Teller County, Colorado and later as a secretary for East Lansing Trinity Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Dorothy Gilmore.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of nearly 52 years, Dennis Carpenter; children, Chantelle (Brian) Deimling, Denise (John) Emch, and Franklin (Amy) Carpenter; grandchildren, Alexis (Jesse) Schneider, Shelby Deimling, ToreyDeimling, Hannah Emch, Dennis John Emch, Evan Emch, Anna Carpenter, Daniel Carpenter, Elizabeth Carpenter, Joshua Carpenter; and great-grandchildren, Moxie Schneider and Penny Schneider. Also surviving are siblings Pat (Roger) Gray, Connie Tomak, and William Gilmore.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 1:00pm at New Hope Church, 1340 Haslett Rd, Haslett, MI 48840. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Glendale Cemetery in Okemos.
Memorial contributions may be made in Georgia's honor to Youth Haven Ranch, Michigan Campus/Corporate Office, PO Box 97, Rives Junction, MI 49277.
