Emma (Schultz) Hepfer was called home to heaven August 21, 2018 at the age of 93. She was the wonderful mother of 5 children, Betty Alicia (John Michael) White, Brenda (Denny) Sommer, Donald (Dee) Hepfer II, Robert (Julie) Hepfer and Ruth (Jimmy Hettler) Hepfer; 11 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. Emma was married to Don Hepfer of DeWitt for 62 years until his death in 2009. She was preceded in death by her sister, Hildegarde Leitz; and survived by her sister, Helene Fowler and brother, Herbert.
She was a city girl who moved to a 110 acre dairy farm in Williamston with no phone and one car. She was renowned for her home cooked farm meals and cinnamon rolls. In addition to her family, gardening and farm work, she served as the Executive Secretary to the Director of the MSU Development Fund for 18 years until her retirement in 1992; and as Secretary to the Director of the Michigan Department of Conservation (now the Michigan Department of Natural Resources) from 1943 to 1947.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Lutheran Church, 1022 W. Grand River Ave., Williamston 48895.
Interment will follow in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Okemos.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 - 11 a.m. at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those desiring may make contributions to the Memorial Lutheran Church in memory of Emma Hepfer.
The family is being served by the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes East Chapel.
