Okemos, MI formerly of Detroit
Eleanor Makuch, age 93, passed away on July 15, 2015. She lived in Hamtramck and Detroit for most of her life until moving to Safe Haven Assisted Living in Okemos, MI in March, 2014. She worked for many years as a secretary, first with Detroit Public Schools then at St. Bartholomew School, retiring at 81. She was a member of the parish and Christian Women’s Society there until her move.
Eleanor will be remembered for her energy and love of life. Her favorite phrase was “Older I’ll be but I refuse to be old”. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends and was known for her sense of humor and great Polish cooking especially her famous meatball recipe.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband John and son John. She is survived by her children, Camille Sharland (Gary); Jeffrey Makuch; David Makuch (Ruby); daughter in law Eileen Krueger; grandchildren Nick Sharland; Emily Keeler (Matt); Ann Marie Merrill (Craig); John Makuch; Cole Makuch; Carlye Makuch; great granddaughter Aubrey Merrill.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 14, 2015 at St. Martha Parish, 1100 West Grand River, Okemos, MI. The family will receive visitors from 10:00~11:00 at St. Martha’s preceding the Mass.
