Edwina “Jeri” Nelson died June 20, 2016. She was born February 2, 1934 in Gaylord, Michigan. She spent most of her life Haslett, Michigan. We lost our special angel; she finally went to the Lord after a long hard battle with Alzheimer’s. She still had her sense of humor right up to the end. She was a loving wife to her husband, Bump for 57 years, a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Jeri worked as a waitress for the Lansing Country Club and Walnut Hills Country Club for 30 years, where she made many lifelong friends. Jeri was also a member of St. Luke’s in Haslett, Michigan
She loved traveling in their motorhome with her dog Sootie, spending winters in Florida and visiting friends up north in the summer. Jeri was very versatile in life. She enjoyed sewing making drapes, curtains, and clothes; she loved to cook for her family and was known for her rhubarb pies. She was a professional dog groomer for years; she was an excellent interior decorator of her home.
If someone needed anything she was always there for her family and friends. She was our earth angel and she spread her wings and left us here on earth. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. She is survived by her daughter, Tami Parish of Eaton Rapids, Starr “Bob” Wieber of St. Johns, 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and her beloved dog Sootie, step-mother Helen Coultes and half-brother Ron Coultes of Mt. Morris, Michigan and son-in-law Jason Parish.
The family would like to give special thanks for the wonderful care she received at the Stoneleigh Hospice of Lansing. Per Jeri’s request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Stoneleigh Hospice; 3411 Stoneleigh, Lansing Michigan 48910. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.greastlansing.com.
