He was a long term resident of Portage, MI, and a recent resident of Haslett, Michigan. He will be remembered for his deep and loving commitment to his wife Jean Delores (Evans) Cahn, who passed away in 1993.
A graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School in 1936, he later graduated from the Maher’s Business College. Failing to qualify for the draft, he choose to take the Civil Service Exam and work as a civilian in the War Department and later in the Department of the Army at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Returning to his home town of Kalamazoo in 1950, he worked in National Advertising Department for the Kalamazoo Gazette newspaper until his retirement in 1980.
Dudley Sr enjoyed fishing and traveling out west in his younger years and was motivated to do many home repairs. His hobbies included photography for many years and then computers and the Internet in his later years.
Preceded in death by his sister Maxine (Cahn) Bordine in 1971, he is survived by his son, Dr. Dudley Dean Cahn, Jr., and his wife Sharon of Haslett, grand daughter, Katherine Marie (Cahn) Karpinski and her husband Charles, and his great grand sons Ethan and Kolby Karpinski all of Bath, MI.
Cremation was handled by the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home in E. Lansing. He will be laid to rest at the Mountain Home Cemetery, 1402 W. Main St., Kalamazoo.
