David was the beloved husband of Jayne Henderson; loving father of Erin Henderson and Ryan (Angelica)
Henderson; cherished grandfather of Antonio, Shannon and Micaela; fond uncle of many; dear brother
of Ron Henderson of New Mexico and Linda Aiken of California.
David grew up in Akron, OH and graduated from Garfield High school in 1958. After high school, he was
called on to serve his country in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed at Fort Bliss, TX. In 1962, after
completing his military service he returned to Akron and enrolled at the University of Akron, obtaining a
Bachelor’s degree in accounting. On May 20, 1966, he married Jayne Douglas and began working at
Goodyear Corporation as a Tax Accountant. In 1972, they started a family with the birth of their
daughter, Erin. In 1973, David was transferred to Lansing, MI to run the tax department of a Goodyear
subsidiary, Motor Wheel Corporation. In 1975, David and Jayne added to their family with the birth of
their son, Ryan. David retired from Motor Wheel in 1986 and became an entrepreneur in the equipment
rental industry. He started his first business in Grand Ledge, MI and later acquired additional locations in
Okemos and Redford, MI, before retiring in 2004. After retiring from the equipment rental business, he
partnered with his brother, Ron, and purchased their family homestead in Indiana County, PA. A small,
100 acre working farm, he loved spending time there and was always thinking and talking about their
next project, including rehabilitating barns, repairing broken fences ,and other general property
maintenance.
David loved to work. He was gifted in math and very mechanically inclined. An avid MSU Spartan Fan,
for decades he held season tickets in football and basketball. He also was a lifelong boxing enthusiast
and proud of his Golden Glove boxing days. Very active in the American Rental Association of Michigan,
