She was a proud mother, grandma, and loved her family deeply. Connie retired from Leslie Public Schools, dedicating her career to developmental enhancement of special education. Constance initiated the Horseback riding therapy program at Beekman Center in the 1970s.
She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Michigan State University after attending Williamston High School. Constance had a love for animals, especially horses, sheep, dogs, and donkeys. She enjoyed gardening and antiquing.
Constance is survived by her spouse Steven D. Smith, children Courtney Samson (Jerry) and Ryan Smith (Sherri), grandchildren Taylor Mayo, Anderson Smith, Ella Samson, Colt Samson, Marin Smith, and Harper Samson, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Georgia Solem, and sister Sandra Kay Solem.
Services for Constance will be scheduled at a later date. Contributions in her memory can be made to Turning Point Donkey Rescue.
