Always a loyal and generous friend and genuinely respected by many, those that new him frequently commented that, “He is such a nice guy”! From their heart, they spoke warmly of Charles Thomas Stanley, age 79, who passed away October 17, 2021. A native of East Lansing, MI, Charles graduated from East Lansing High School as a Trojan half-back and later Ferris State College. His interest was in aviation as a pilot and historian; his passion for which was only surpassed by the love of his life Nancy J. Struthers who, predeceased him in 2006 and, as a master gardener, taught him to appreciate fully the simplicity of nature that surrounded them. He loved to document life via film and photographs often capturing his other zest for antique cars. As a member of the local Model “T” and Model “A” clubs he was often seen on parade sharing his passion with others. His work life took him into healthcare where he served in a leadership role for Ingham Medical Hospital and Mid-Michigan Medical Center. Chuck served in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant and his love of country led him to acquire a replica Willy’s Jeep where he, as General MacArthur, was often seen in patriotic celebrations. He strongly believed and announced to all that would listen that he “planned to stop procrastinating” but made sure everyone knew that “he would start tomorrow” which was in keeping with his endless sense of humor!
Chuck now joins his wife, Nancy; parents, Dr. Arthur and Helen Stanley; brother, Art Stanley; sister, Alina Collar; nephew, Alonso S. Collar and is survived by brothers, Bob (Nubia) Stanley, Alonso (Stefeni) Collar; sister, Jean Collins; nephew, Kevin (Julie) Collins; niece Debbie (David) Brehm; sister-in-law, Shari (Jim) Nussdorfer; and many loving nieces and nephews.
