Charlene Lucile Vogan

Charlene was born in New Castle PA to James and Edith Emery Vogan She is survived by nieces Linda (James) Rodden and Marilyn (Donald) Spence and nephews James (Christine) of Florida and Richard(Kathy), GA. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Joe, special friend Shirley Brehm, and Lee Langel. Char is a graduate of New Castle H. S, Mather College for Women, Western Reserve University (Cleveland), Westminster College (PA), and Michigan State University.

Char is Professor Emeritus, Alma (MI) College, then retired again after 20 years as a Camp Licensing Consultant, State of Michigan. Her early career included experiences as Girl Scout Professional Worker, public school teacher, and faculty, Youngstown (OH) State University.

She enjoyed traveling here and abroad with friends, gardening, music, art, reading, and her dogs. She is a Life Member of Girl Scouts, begun as a girl member and Senior Wing Scout and the recipient of Thanks Badge II: active in East Lansing Prime Time Senior Program, member 1st Sr. Commission, Beacon Award: Great Lakes Folk Festival – Sr. on Go: MSU Blue Line Club, and participant with local community bands.

Through the years she was active with the American Camping Association, as an American Red Cross instructor, MI Outdoor Education Assoc., and Volunteer Emergency Rescue Services.

There will be a private family memorial service at a later date. Interment will be in New Castle, PA

In lieu of flowers remembrance can be made to the East Lansing Prime Time Seniors, Heart of Michigan Girl Scouts, Humane Society, or an organization of choice.
